wake up in tuscany: hotel Monteverdi
Castiglioncello del Trinoro, Italy
Erected from a long-forgotten medieval village, today, Hotel Monteverdi brings the best of old-world techniques and modern sensibilities together to delight city-fleeing guests. The village turned boutique hotel is located outside the town of Castiglioncello del Trinoro — in the heart of Tuscany, off cypress tree lined roads — just a short two hour drive north of Rome and two hours south of Florence.
Designer Ilaria Miani brought the essences of dusty dirt roads, rolling hills, and vineyards toasted under the Tuscan sun inside by playing with a soft, textured, and neutral palette. Known for her ability to resurrect decrepit Italian treasures by utilizing traditional techniques, the hotel feels like it's been merely updated rather than gutted. Each room is outfitted with quirky original touches, like wooden beams, alongside modern furnishings and pressed linens. It's easy for guests to imagine all countryside living must be like this: dining under a canopy of leafy trees, cooling off in the infinity pool that overlooks endless pastures and walking up to the smell of olive trees and lavender.
