Wake Up In The Heart of Milan: Senato Hotel

ADDRESS: Via Senato, 22
NUMBER OF ROOMS: 43
DESIGN: Modern Milanese
HOSPITALITY: Quintessentially Italian
PERKS: The Rooftop
CONCLUSION: If you're in Milan for shopping the Senato is perfectly situated to shop, drop your bags, then bolt out and explore the rest of the city. But fair warning, you might never want to peel yourself from those incredibly white, and perfectly-pressed Egyptian cotton sheets.
Palatial private residence turned boutique hotel, the Senato exudes elegance and refinement at every turn.
Architect Alessandro Bianchi's modern-Milanese redesign breathed new life into the neo-classic property and the competitive hotel scene here in the city — enticing guests away from famous institutions for a taste of bespoke design and boutique hospitality.
In the lobby, white and green striped marble floors evoke a sense of old world opulence with a contemporary twist. And the hotel's signature Ginkgo Biloba leaf, gilded in gold behind the concierge desk, is speckled across all 43 rooms. The architect also called in a myriad of local talent to execute the contemporary yet cozy design. The signature brass lighting by Bottega Gadda are amongst the many furnishings you'll contemplate stashing as a souvenir.
At the heart of it, the design is about juxtaposition. Plush, velvet-lined chairs next to silky-white sheets; brass fixtures and beer-bottle green accents; black and white couches; curved archways against parallel lines.
Our perfect day at the Senato Hotel? Start off with coffee in bed and breakfast down in the garden, then, grab your wallet and head to nearby Via Montenapoleone for some shopping. In the afternoon, drop your bags back at the hotel and enjoy a compari or spritz on the rooftop before heading out to do some sight-seeing. Nightcap on your balcony — optional. But, highly recommended.
